ACE Memorial

Mission Statement

ACE Memorial (Advancing Canadian Entrepreneurship) aims to infuse an entrepreneurial spirit into Newfoundland and Labrador by matching all its stakeholders with needs-based solutions rooted in global markets.

Founded in the mid-1980s, ACE is a national, not-for-profit organization that is igniting young Canadians to create brighter futures for themselves and their communities. Working in partnership with business and higher education, ACE organizes and motivates teams of university and college students from 51 schools across the country.

ACE Memorial is composed of approximately 67 students at Memorial University of Newfoundland. Established in 1992, ACE Memorial is committed to increasing entrepreneurship in this province and is part of a network of ACE programs on campuses across Canada. ACE Memorial provides practical experience to students at Memorial University to compliment their academic programs. ACE Memorial welcomes students from all faculties.

Since its inception, ACE Memorial has grown to become one of the strongest ACE teams in the country. In 2006-07, ACE Memorial experienced record levels of involvement, developing and delivering a full slate of innovative projects. The numbers speak for themselves:

21 Projects
16,321 Volunteer Hours
2,236 People Impacted
10,194,036 Gross Impressions
Impacting people from 10 countries

During the course of a year, ACE Memorial will run a number of different projects. The core of our program is our educational, or SIFE (Students in Free Enterprise), projects. These projects educate both our members and people in the community about entrepreneurship, free markets and ethical behavior. ACE Memorial also dedicates efforts and resources to its micro-businesses. These ventures act as fundraisers for our program and local charities and promote critical project management and organization skills.

The future of ACE Memorial is nothing short of exciting. This year, we will focus much of our efforts on increasing the number of student businesses at Memorial University of Newfoundland. Furthermore, after placing in the top 16 teams worldwide last year, we will once again represent Canada at the SIFE World Cup taking place in New York City this October!
